The Matrix menu starts with screens from them movie playing on a loop while the play , scene selection ,languages and special features this menu is very basic but at the time it was band new as you switch from each menu screen a small click on the movie plays compared to the Shrek DVD menu from 2001 which uses its animated characters to click each button and when you click each different button a different character runs off screen and it transitions to the chosen menu that character will being talking on screen , the lay out of both menu is also completely different with the colors and images they use to adverts the movie with in the DVD. in the Shrek menu they introduced Easter eggs which include game add-ons and internet links to the Shrek web site if your playing your DVD in a PC or laptop Matrix on the other hand only had a small special features menu which a cast and crew list and a trailer for the movie, in the screen selections menu for matrix its still images in each scene also it stays with the same music and colors where as Shrek's scene selection menu has a click from each scene playing in each scene button also the music changes for different menus ans the background changes as well, Matrix languages menu is basic with only English and English subtitles it dose have a commentary setting and a music track setting as well where as Shrek languages menu has 3 different languages with 3 different commentary options with different languages but it doesn't have a music track setting as Matrix has.
The three Dvd menu I have chosen for companion are all Holly Wood movies so the region code they would have started on would have been code 1 which is United States, Canada, Bermuda, Caribbean, U.S. territories. They are 8 region codes for each different code is set up for 6 parts of the world with exception from region code 7 and 8 which are for Reserved for future use, MPAA-related DVDs and "media copies" of pre-releases in Asia and International venues such as aircraft, cruise ships, spacecraft.
DVD region codes are a digital rights management technique designed this is to allow distributors to control releases , including content , dates of releases and price depending on each region, This is achieved by way of region locked DVD players, which will play back only DVDs encoded to their region , The main DvD formats are PAL for British DVDs and NTSC for American DVD authoring they is also SECAM which is also used in British DVD authoring.
The different variations on the term DVD +R, -R, -ROM describe the way data is stored on or written to the disc itself. These are called physical formats. DVD-R is a record able DVD format similar to CD-R and DVD+R. A DVD-R can record data only once and then the data becomes permanent on the disc. The crucial difference among the standards is based on which standards each manufacturer adheres to. Similar to the old VHS/Beta tape when VCRs first hit the markets, different manufacturers support different standards, both the industry and consumers are still waiting to see which format will emerge as the industry standard.
